  • The Kanga Hosting Australia firewall acts to protect your site and email from intrusion. However, legitimate users can be blocked after 5 failed login attempts to cpanel, or ftp, or email.
    The server regards these as intrusion attempts - ie someone trying to gain unauthorised access. Such failures are usually because of using an incorrect password, or username - and is typically what a hacker would do to try and 'guess' a password to gain access.
    Typically if this occurs you will not be able to visit your website, check email etc - as the server will have banned your ip address from any server access. If this triggers the firewall, it is best to email us with your current ip address (easily found by visiting this website http://www.whatismyip.com - and it will tell you what your current public ip address is), and asking that we remove the block on that ip address.

Denial of Service attack (Resolved)

    We have experience a large scale Denial of Service attack inbound towards our network, between 8:39pm and 8:48pm tonight (Thursday 16th July 2009). We have determined the target of the attack and are discussing actions to be taken with the Customer accordingly. As this Denial of Service has now been mitigated, our technicians will be monitoring this issue closely and in the event it reoccurs further action will be taken. RVSiteBuilder Preview Page (Resolved)

Mail Server Connection Bunbury Area (Resolved)

    Some users have experienced a very minor mail server connection pop3 outage on our network in the Bunbury area of WA, this has only been reported by customers using Bigpond as a Service provider. Unscheduled Outage (Resolved)

  • Dear Customers,

    We have experienced a very minor outage on our network, caused by some fluctuations in our BGP core network. Connectivity issues may have been experienced for up to 2-3 minutes at most between 7:20am and 7:25am, after which the BGP network devices affected rectified their operating status. During this time our redundant equipment was activated automatically and traffic flowed across our secondary devices for a short period, the outage was due to the time taken by our devices to switch over. We are investigating the causes in detail of this to ensure it does not occur again in the future, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
